4th Round Draft Pick |
This move was a necessary evil for the Flames, as the team had acquired all sorts of veteran help for their stretch run and Dustin Boyd was not playing himself into a roster spot by any means. So, instead of putting Boyd on waivers where a team could claim him for free, the team traded him away for at least a mid-round draft pick.
Boyd going to Nashville is a pretty good fit for the young winger, especially one that has grown up in the rigors of the Sutter system. Barry Trotz in Nashville runs a pretty gritty ship and Boyd's speed should fit right in. Almost too well, actually. This was a good move for the Predators to pick Boyd up, as he should jump into their line-up just fine.
