Sheet Scratches From Wednesday Night

Now that the Playoff Pool is up and running, I thought I would include a few players, when appliciable to the Injury Page for the players in the new pool. Today's new additions are Raffi Torres and Chris Butler of the Buffalo Sabres. Neither player was added to the regular season pools, but both have definitely been good enough through the season to get Playoff consideration. Torres is currently sitting out with an upper-body injury, which has caused him to miss a few games already in the past week. The Sabres are hoping to get him back into the line-up soon. Butler, on the other hand, has had his youth catch up to him a bit and has been a viewer from the press box more often than not in the past few weeks. He was a healthy scratch again yesterday for the Sabres last night against the Canadiens. Not sure when he'll figure back into the line-up again.

I forgot that Darcy Tucker was a member of the regualr season Sheet pool or else I would have done up his own post for his suspension, but oh well. Tucker was suspended earlier this week for some excessive contact during a race for an icing, I believe with Matt Greene of the Kings. Tucker was suspended one game, which was the other side of an home & home series with Los Angeles. I don't think he was missed in the pool and he wasn't selected to be a part of the Playoff Pool, so the suspension made no impact to the results.

The Canadiens got some really good news on Wednesday night, as both Mike Cammalleri and Marc-Andre Bergeron both returned from their long-term injuries for their game against the Sabres. Unfortunately for some, that means that a couple players had to come out of the line-up, which included Box 22 forward, Max Lapierre. Lapierre turned out to be a healthy scratch, while non-pool players, Tom Pyatt and Mathieu Darche, remained in the line-up. Shouldn't have been a big deal, as no one has Lapierre in the hockey pools.

Talk about unlucky... Capitals forward, Brooks Laich, took an errant deflection of a John Carlson shot in the face at practice on Tuesday, which caused some facial damage. The shot bounced off the crossbar and caught the forward in the left side of the face. It's still unknown as to whether or not Laich has any fractured bones, but the team does hope to have him for their weekend game.
