Sheet Scratches From Thursday Night

Times are changing in Atlanta and the veterans are going to be paying the price a little bit. With Slava Kozlov already being a regular healthy scratch and untradeable at the deadline, the Thrashers acquired a couple more forwards, meaning that there was going to be even less playing time for someone. Todd White was next on the block, as he didn't dress for the game against the Islanders and he might fall underneath the bus a bit down the line here as well. White hasn't scored with any consistency, so I expect him to see more time in the press box with Kozlov.

With Kyle Quincey returning to the Avalanche line-up on Thursday night, someone had to make a move out on the rotation. Box 13 defenseman, Brett Clark, received the call for press box duty against the the Coyotes last night, getting his chance to watch the game from up top. With a rotation on now, I think we'll see some more swapping of defensemen in and out of the line-up, looking for the happy medium or waiting for an injury to happen so the roster can get some continuity.

With all the new bodies headed to Phoenix after Wednesday's deadline transactions, someone was going to have to be headed to the sidelines as a healthy scratch. That player was Box 8 forward, Taylor Pyatt, who hasn't had the best of seasons with the Coyotes, making him one of the easier choices to sit. All the new bodies paid some immediate dividends with goals and an eventual win against the Avalanche, so Pyatt might be in the press box for a while longer.
