Another shot blocking injury has to reported today, as new Oilers defenseman, Ryan Whitney, has been added to the list of wounded players after sustaining a knee injury in last night's game against the Canadiens. Whitney left the game in the second period and didn't return to action. Coach Pat Quinn made light of his thin legs, but didn't give any more of an update as to the length of time Whitney may miss. We'll consider him day-to-day for right now.
Whitney is a money team player at the moment, playing for Wes' team in the Draft. Wes currently has a 5-point lead over Wayne for the last money position and a defenseman loss might be enough for that down the stretch. Wes actually has the 6th best defensive squad this season, with 136 points, but he's nowhere near the pool leader in that department, Larry, who has 177 points.
