A broken foot will cause Tim Gleason to miss the better part of the games remaining in the regular season in 2010. Gleason actually broke his foot in a game over the weekend and ended up playing in one game this week before acknowledgement of the injury, which likely meant he was playing with a certain amount of pain in his foot. The Box 29 defenseman is a pretty tough guy, but he'll likely be finished now for the rest of the season.
Not many details surrounding the scratching of Jeff Halpern from the Kings line-up on Thursday. Their deadline day acquisition was not playing against the Blackhawks and all I could find for this move was that he was a healthy scratch and that was it. In 6 games with the Kings, he has no points to show for his efforts and is a -2 with a minor penalty. Maybe the Kings were expecting a little bit more out of him and decided to give him a game from above to see what the team is really about.
Resident tough guy, D.J. King, was a healthy scratch for the Blues again, as the team took on the Rangers. King doesn't really get to play in a lot of games down the stretch and he probably still won't see too much time in the last 12 games of the season, since the Blues will likely be looking for a lot more scoring to possibly catch up to the Red Wings and Flames and have a shot at the playoffs.
The Canucks also decided to scratch their only deadline day acquisition, as Andrew Alberts was sent up to the press box in favour of Shane O'Brien on Thursday night. Alberts, a Box 29 defenseman, was brought to Vancouver as more of a defensive defenseman, but he has struggled to find his groove in Vancouver and took a game from above in to see more of what the coaching staff likely wanted.
