A major shuffle going on in Atlanta, as the team deals with some injury problems these days. Slava Kozlov checks back in for the team, since Evander Kane is now out for three weeks with his broken foot, and it was Marty Reasoner who also draws out of the line-up, becoming a healthy scratch last night. Reasoner, a Box 24 forward, makes his first appearance in the press box this season. I'm not quite sure how quickly he'll draw back in, but I imagine it would be soon.
With a glutton of healthy defensemen again, the Flames were able to make Adam Pardy, a Box 14 defenseman, into a healthy scratch for their game against the Senators on Thursday night. Pardy has seen a fair bit of time in the press box this season and has drawn into the line-up as a injury replacement. With Steve Staios now in town, Pardy should be the 7th defenseman for the remainder of the season.
The Minnesota Wild look to be without defenseman, Brent Burns, for a little while, as he's dealing with a sore hip, which isn't allowing him to skate for long periods of time. Burns tried to give it a go at yesterday's pre-game skate/practice, but left early because of the sore hip. I don't imagine that this will have an overnight fix, so I would expect him to be out for the weekend as well.
Chris Kelly appears to be suffering from a lower-body injury, which kept him out of the Thursday night game in Calgary. The Box 24 forward didn't go in practice, but did take the pre-game skate, but apparently was not good to go come game time. There hasn't been much said about the injury yet, nor has there been any indication about his status for the team's next game, Saturday in Vancouver. If he took the skate last night, I would imagine he'd be a game-time decision, unless otherwise stated.
The Penguins are swapping injured players to and from their line-up, as Bill Guerin was able to draw back in for the team on Thursday night after some back spasms, while Tyler Kennedy, a Box 23 forward, had to come out of the line-up due to some groin troubles. Kennedy's groin does sound to be somewhat serious, as he isn't expected to go on Friday night, with the team taking on the Devils in New Jersey. Stay tuned...
After blocking a shot in the game against Nashville on Thursday night, Box 13 defenseman, Doug Murray left the game with an apparent lower-body injury. Murray tried to play through the injury, but was not able to continue, taking the rest of the game off in the third period. He will likely be re-evaluated before the Sharks' next game, which goes Saturday afternoon, at home to the Florida Panthers.
The Blues decided to make Box 9 forward, D.J. King, into a healthy scratch again on Thursday night, as the team took on the Islanders. King has fully recovered from his long-term injury earlier in the season, but hasn't quite found a regular spot in the line-up this year. He's only managed to figure into four games with the Blues this season and only has been good for 15 PIM.
