What a bumpy ride its been for Erik Cole this year. An illness last night kept him out of the Hurricanes line-up, just to go with the other 41 games he's missed out on due to injuries this season. Cole will be a game-time decision for the Hurricanes in their next match-up tonight against the Penguins, but if he cannot go, recent pick-up, Oskar Osala will get his second game in a Canes uniform.
An illness has also taken to Stars veteran forward, Jere Lehtinen, as he missed out on the game against the Sabres on Wednesday night. Lehtinen has also had a tough ride through the year, missing games on more occasions than Cole, but in shorter stints. The Stars are at home to the Kings on Friday night and I would imagine that Lehtinen will also be a game-time decision. Fabian Brunnstrom has drawn in for the Stars in Lehtinen's absence.
The game of musical chairs continues for the Capitals, as they are on the verge of being the first team in the league to clinch their playoff spot. On Wednesday night, it was Jason Chimera who got the pass up to the press box. It's anyone's guess as to who the coach will rest during the team's next game, Friday at home to the Lightning. I'm expecting it to be another one of their aged veterans getting the nod.
