Box 25 forward, Zach Boychuk, has served his purpose again for the Hurricanes after being called up again by the big club. Boychuk was helping to fill in for some injured teammates over the weekend. Boychuk was a healthy scratch on Tuesday night and there is a chance that he'll be sent back down to the minors once everyone else is cleared to play.
With non-pool defenseman, Niklas Grossman, able to go on Tuesday night, the Stars decided to rest Matt Niskanen for their game against the San Jose Sharks, making him a healthy scratch for the game. I cannot find any other reason why Niskanen was out of the line-up, but with the Stars falling out of playoff contention, now is a good time to give ice-time to players who are still fighting for a job in 2011.
With his junior season completed, the Oilers have decided to send their prized prospect, Jordan Eberle, to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL for some more professional seasoning. Eberle will not join the Oilers in this losing season, but he may have the opportunity to join the Canadian contingent that will head overseas for the World Championships this Spring. That should give the Box 9 forward some much needed experience.
It looks as though the veteran rotation continued for the Capitals on Tuesday night, as Box 29 defenseman, Tom Poti, was the the next one in the press box for the game against the Florida Panthers. There is no injury report anywhere for Poti, so I think its safe to say it was just a resting scratch, meaning he'll be back in the line-up for the team's next game, Thursday in Carolina.
