3rd Round Draft Pick |
The Los Angeles Kings addressed a need for a veteran centre to help out in a second or third line role, wherever needed at the time, by landing Jeff Halpern from the Lightning. Going the other way today is Teddy Purcell, who has been developing in the Kings system for a long while and a mid-round pick as well.
The Kings in this deal should remain in good shape against the cap down the stretch. Their annual number is below the cap for a 23-man roster that still contains a couple injured players that carry discounts, so they are in really good shape.
The Lightning dumped some salary in this deal, so they are more than alright here.
Good deal for the Kings here today, because they found a good guy that can provide some depth down the middle and the price wasn't too steep for them either. Purcell wasn't developing fast enough for the Kings and a draft pick is a bigger gamble than the player, so overall it's pretty good.
Bolts get a new face with some young energy and a new pick to help build their youth a little bit further. A well-played rental trade on this side as well.
