An upper-body injury kept Ryan Malone out of the Lightning line-up against the Canadiens on Tuesday night. The coaching staff suggested that this is an injury that has been lingering with Malone, but no clarification as to how long Malone has been playing with the injury, nor was there any indication of how long he'll be out to rest this injury. For right now, we'll consider him day-to-day with his upper-body injury.
The Lightning currently sit in 11th spot in the Eastern Conference, 4 points out of 8th spot, which does mean they are in the thick of the playoff race, even if there are a couple of other teams ahead of them in the standings.
Malone has 21 goals and 23 assists this season in 64 games for the Lightning this season. Those are some pretty good numbers for the veteran forward, which ranked him in the top 100 in pool scoring coming into this week, but an injury might drop him out if its more than one game away.
After Tuesday night's action, Benson dropped down to 8th spot in the Draft standings, losing some more ground to the money positions and to some of the teams that he was closely following. This injury to Malone certainly won't help things along, especially if he's out for another game or two.
