In Tuesday night's game against the Senators, Oilers forward Patrick O'Sullivan took a slash to the right hand and the word from the Oilers staff is that O'Sullivan had to undergo a procedure to repair the finger and he'll be out indefinitely. Now, if it is just a broken finger, there would be a chance that O'Sullivan could make it back into the line-up before the end of the regular season, but with only four and a half weeks left in the season, he may not be rushed back.
In 65 games for the Oilers, O'Sullivan has 10 goals and 21 assists, which would be below expectations of him as a player, but working with the team as a whole, it can't be terribly surprising to see his poor numbers. Coming into this week, his ranking was down from 2009, sitting at 213th on Monday, which will now definitely drop even further, making this season a pretty big disappointment.
In the Draft, O'Sullivan belongs to Allan's 7th place team, as he's now currently duking it out with Benson, who just lost Ryan Malone to injury this week as well, although, probably not for as long. If O'Sullivan is out for the remainder of the season, losing a forward, no matter at what depth, is a pretty harmful loss to any money potential. Allan currenly sits 26 points out of the money, which is a long way to climb without a healthy team.
