Looks like it was healthy scratch territory for Todd Marchant and the Ducks on Friday night. His numbers in the last five games haven't been terrible, but it could have been the loss to the Canucks than earned him consideration for the press box, as newcomer, Nick Bonino needed a roster spot to make his NHL debut on Friday. Bonino was just signed out of the NCAA system and played 13 minutes against the Oilers, just short of Marchant's normal 15 minutes. The Ducks are well short of the playoffs, so it isn't a bad idea to get some fresh legs in the line-up.
An ankle injury kept Cam Barker out of the Minnesota Wild line-up on Friday night against the Red Wings. There is no word to how severe the ankle injury actually is, but all we can assume it isn't terribly major or else there would be word of the team shutting him down for the last two weeks of the season. The Box 12 defenseman has been okay since going to the Wild from the Blackhawks at the trade deadline, 6 points in 14 games from the blueline.
