Samuelsson Out Three Weeks

A new injury has befallen the Canucks, as Mikael Samuelsson will now be out of their line-up for the next 2-to-3 weeks with a shoulder injury. Samuelsson suffered the injury in the third period of the loss to the Islanders on Tuesday night. The Canucks have called up Michael Grabner from Manitoba in the AHL to help fill in for his Swedish teammate.

Since the Olympic snub that Samuelsson had with the Swedish team, he has been one of the hotter players on the Canucks, also picking up a Player of the Week nod in Week Twenty-Two. This season, Samuelsson has 30 goals and 23 assists in 70 games with the Canucks, but will now get another small vacation before the playoffs take place for the Canucks. With only a little over three weeks left in the season, Samuelsson has a chance to miss the remainder of the regular season.

ImplicationsSamuelsson is one of the prized possessions of the Draft leader, Leon, who has been really making good from picks like Samuelsson at the Waiver Draft this season. He's kept his season afloat with good picks like Samuelsson and Chris Stewart from the Avalanche. Leon's lead is 29 points with little time left on the year, so he might still be safe without Samuelsson in his line-up.
