Future Considerations

An interesting deal today between the Ducks and Blackhawks, which saw Chicago acquire now-minor league defenseman, Nick Boynton, from Anaheim for some futures. Boynton will remain down in the minors after this deal, which means he won't be a salary cap burden for either team in this deal.

ImplicationsBoynton was taken four times in Box 14 of the Sheet pool, but since he's been in the minors, no one has made the move to trade him away from their team. Now that he's in Chicago, I don't expect Boynton to see anymore NHL ice-time, unless there is a long-term injury concern. He should be traded, if you have all seven of your trades, otherwise, you'll probably have to take the hit.

This is a strange deal, but I read on Twitter that Boynton might be hurting the team's bottom line by playing in the AHL, so this could be an actual money move for the club, because it isn't a real cap move. The Blackhawks obviously have some idea what the future considerations might be, but I don't think it will be anything major, unless Boynton was to re-sign with the Blackhawks.
