Well, I was away from the blog for a few days, so I'm playing a little bit of catch-up tonight. On Saturday, the New York Rangers claimed Alex Auld from the Dallas Stars, after they had placed him on re-entry waivers on Friday. Auld was the odd-man out since Kari Lehtonen came to Dallas from Atlanta and now Auld will be available to back-up Henrik Lundqvist down the stretch.
The Rangers will only have to pay half of the remaining salary due to Auld, because of re-entry waivers. That's worth only $117,000 for the rest of the season, while the Stars have to count the other half against their cap number. That's no big deal on either end.
