Auld Backs Up Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators shored up their goaltending situation with the addition of Alex Auld, via a new 2-year deal. The deal will average out to be worth $1 million per season, which should suit the Senators fine.

Auld could be the benefactor of an inconsistent number one goalie and see a fair amount of time, which makes him a good gamble to take when it comes to choosing a back-up goalie for your team. He finished the season with the Bruins, winning 12 games and 3 of them by shutout. His numbers could very well be the same, depending on the shakiness of Martin Gerber, but the number one job may not be out of reach.

After the Senators first signing of the period, they now have 13 players signed on at a cap hit of $39.6 million, under the floor of the salary cap constraints.
