The Philadelphia Flyers managed to off-load some hefty salary space on the Los Angeles Kings by dealing defenseman Denis Gauthier to the West coast for a pair of prospects.
Gauthier, 31, lost his NHL presence in Philadelphia, where the Flyers were very deep on the blueline last season and then played the year in the AHL. Gauthier brings some good size (6'3", 224 pounds) to the blueline, which the Kings will need and there he should get some solid playing time. As a pool prospect, Gauthier's career high in points is only 16, but he did register 18 points in the AHL, but that does kind of sound like a moot point.
